This week's EOTO was on Proslavery and Antislavery events.
A proslavery event that was talked about was the Fugitive Slave Act of 1850. This act required people by law to return runaway slaves to their owners, whether you were proslavery or antislavery. This law was not enforced in the north and was later repealed. Another proslavery event discussed was a the Lecompton Kansas-Nebraska Act.The Civil war was also an event this EOTO team talked about. This war took place in 1861. during this time the south seceded and the confederacy was founded. The last proslavery event discussed in this week's EOTO was Bleeding Kansas.
The other team's EOTO topics were antislavery events. These events included the Missouri Compromise which was a compromise in which........ Another event was the Emancipation Proclamation which....... The Underground Railroad was founded by Harriet Tubman and about 100,000 slaves used it. This ended when the Emancipation Proclamation was created. The last event was the election of Abraham Lincoln who was a Republican abolitionists.
I personally learned a lot from this EOTO and I think that preparing for these EOTO is very helpful.
