This film takes place in 1964 Mississippi. Less than seven percent of Mississippi's African-Americans were registered to vote. There had been many attempts at raising this percentage but many of them failed. In 1964, a secretary for the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee tried a different approach. White students from the North joined activists in raising this number and helping more African-Americans vote. This documentary shows the violence that takes place during that time.
